My Genealogy
Many of you know me as the author of Falgoust - A History and
Genealogy of the Falgoust and Falgout Families of Louisiana: 1555 - 1988. My mother
was a Falgout, hence my interest in this particular family. This 786 page book, known as
"the big red book," includes a study of our founding father, the French surgeon,
Louis Marcel Falgoust dit Beaumont, his ancestors in France back to 1555, and his
descendants in Louisiana to 1988. In addition to all the Falgoust and Falgout families,
the book also includes many of the collateral and allied lines in America and Europe. When
published, my book was very favorably reviewed by many genealogical societies and other
organizations. The book is currently out of print.
As you might have guessed by now, my main interests lie in genealogy and historical
research. My most recent endeavors include:
Consultation, editing and manuscript preparation of Albert J.
Robichaux's new books, "German Coast Families II" and
"Non-Acadian Settlers of Bayou Lafourche." I worked on his
other books, "New Orleans Births, Marriages and Deaths: 1790-1833"and
"German Coast Families - Origins and Settlement in Colonial
Louisiana," which are both in print;
Consultation, editing and manuscript preparation, Laura Locoul's
journal, a project of Laura Plantation, Inc., under the direction of Norman Marmillion;
Consultation and manuscript preparation, Elton Oubre's
"Vacherie," now in print and selling very well;
A project of my own that I have worked on for the last few years,
"Once Upon a Childhood."

Orleans.
- Professional Genealogy Research
My research has been published in Terrebonne Lifelines and L'Heritage,
publications of the Terrebonne Genealogical Society and the St. Bernard Genealogical
Society. I am currently a member of the New Orleans Genealogical Society, The Jefferson
Parish Genealogical Society, The German-Acadian Coast Genealogical and Historical Society,
Terrebonne Genealogical Society, Lafourche Heritage Society and La Comité des Archives de
la Louisiane. I am on an active list of Louisiana genealogists maintained by La Comité
des Archives de la Louisiane. Last August, I gave a presentation on The Founding
of the German Coast: Myth vs. Fact to the annual genealogy and history symposium of the
Lafourche Heritage Society.
My parents were Lee Peter Lottinger and Berthille Marie Falgout of
Houma. They were strong, stouthearted, kindly people who provided me with the right stuff
to make it this far in life.

Tracing one's roots is a never-ending labor of love. I hope, eventually, to have
as much
genealogical information as I can at this web site. It's a slow process, but I've begun,
and I guess that's the important thing. I use Family Tree Maker genealogy software,
and I plan to upload my databases to an internet page some time in the near future.
So far, at this site, I have entered narrative information on:
Beauvais | Buford |
Boudreaux
Champagne | Dugas | Falgout | Lottinger | Roger | Savoie
Music is such a big part of my life, so I've added music representative of the period and
country to each of the above genealogy pages - a sort of "hit parade" of what
was popular at the time of my earliest known ancestors. I'll be adding more information
and other families as time permits.
I am also researching my children's lines, Allens, of Mississippi,
and Wests, of Alabama, Mississippi and Arkansas.
