Poem #1 for 02/01/02 (done at the request of Christopher Walsh):
"Groundhog Day WYSIWYG"
'What you see is what you get.'
Oh groundhog, honest beast, I think it's swell
How come you out of hole in ground?
You yawn, you do not yell;
Your temper's fine! Gentle beast,
You look for shadow yourn, or so the legend goes,
You peer around, past your honest nose
See you darkening cast on ground?
We rejoice, for it seems that no,
You don't, and so our weather'll go
Fine. We'll have pleasant weather
Since you and shadow don't appear together.
You are fine, oh groundhog, noble beast... and yet
Unlike before, what you see is what we get.
