Ok, well I'm definitely not sitting nose-high any more! The coils (OME 860's) fit perfectly. The top of the coils is flat, so the upper rubber seat isn't necessary. The 860's are FJ-80 2.5" Lift, Medium Load. I opted for the medium's due to the FJ-80 being so much heavier than a 4Runner, I didn't want them to be too stiff.
The coils ride great! As good as the Downey coils did anyway. There is a bit of body roll, but that's to be expected in a lifted truck with soft, flexy coils. The bushings in my rear sway bar are pretty shot and I still haven't fashioned a front sway bar yet, so that may have something to do with it.
As for how much lift I got, well here are the
#'s:
Before (Downey 1.5" HD coils, 2.5" All-Pro Spacer, 1" body lift, 33" TSL Radials)
Driver's side (rear fender lip to ground): 38.5"
Pass.'s side (rear fender lip to ground): 40"
A quite noticeable lean and part of the reason
I wanted new coils. This confirms what I was thinking....that my driver's
side Downey coil was sagging a bit. Granted my heavy spare is mounted on
that side, but it might be time to cut out some of the chalupas!
After (OME 860's - 2.5" FJ-80 Med., 1" body lift, 33" TSL Radials)
Driver's side (rear fender lip to ground): 41.25"
Pass.'s side (rear fender lip to ground): 42"
Still a little bit of lean.....wonder if the parking lot is level or if the body is a little tweaked? Some of it is probably the spare as well. That sucker is heavy!
So, how much lift did it give me over stock? Well, for comparison's sake, my roommate's '94 4Runner is at 36.5", with Downey 1.5" HD coils and 32" TSL Radials. Subtracting out his lift (2" including the tires) would put his "stock" height at 34.5". With my (average between DS and PS) current height at a little over 41.5", it looks like I've got a smidge over 7" total lift over "stock". Take out the 1" body lift and 1" for the tires and I've got just over 5" in suspension lift.
My only real concern right now is my pinion angle. I think I can play with it a little by adusting the length of my upper links.
Here are some of the pictures I have so far:
