About Sra. Utter and Her Classes

Classes

I went to a workshop this past summer that changed the entire way I teach.  I now teach using a method called TPRS, which stands for Total Physical Response - Storytelling.  Instead of studying vocabulary lists, grammar rules, and verb lists as I had previously done (and as most foreign language teachers do), the language is now learned through actually using it!!  It sounds intimidating, but it is really MUCH easier than the other way.  Have you ever heard people say, "Oh yeah, Spanish.  I took two years of it in high school and don't remember a word."  Well, that won't happen this way.  It makes you learn the language in your long-term memory, not short-term.  If you'd like to know more, feel free to e-mail me if you'd like more information or have any questions!

Below are links to a website called Quia where I have created online quizzes, games and flashcards to help practice and review the material we are working on. I try to update regularly.

Seņora Utter

I have been teaching Spanish at Chesnee High School since 1992. Occasionally I have also taught Psychology, World Geography, and Introduction to Computers (what can I say - I'm a renaissance woman!). I have a husband and a three year-old daughter. I graduated from Clemson University, so I'm a Clemson Tigers fan and I'm also a HUGE Pittsburgh Penguins fan (or at least as big as one can be in South Carolina). One can always tell the nights the Penguins play because I wear a penguin pin that day.
