Modifications

What I'm basically trying to build here is a dependable rig that will go most places and tackle most trails, while still being a nice comfy daily driver.  I think I'm just about there....   ;-)
 
 
 

Stock Features:

• 1995 Toyota 4Runner Limited - Gold
• 5-speed - This was particularly hard to find in a fully loaded 4Runner, much less a Limited!
• Leather seats - I wasn't originally looking to get leather seats, but I'll take 'em.  :-)
• 31x10.5 Bridgestone Dueler H/T's - not a bad stock tire actually
• Power moonroof
• Factory towing package
• 4.56 STOCK gears!!!

Suspension:

Rear:
 
• Old Man Emu 860 Coils - Listed as 2.5" lift coils for an FJ-80 Land Cruiser (Medium Load).  These coils gave me about 5.5" of lift and fit perfectly.  They ride and flex great!
• All-Pro Upper and Lower Control Arm Links - to move the axle back to where it should be w/ the lift.
• Doetsch Tech 8336's - Extended 26.5", Collapsed 15.5"
• Rockstomper sway-bar quick disconnects
• Pro-Comp Panhard Rod drop-down bracket - to keep the rear driveshaft from getting too cozy with the gas tank.
• SkelleyBuilt Panhard Rod raise bracket - serves the same purpose as the drop bracket, only on the driver's side.

• 3" Lift Alcan Springs - 1" longer than stock (for an '85 4Runner)
• 1" Drop Spring Hanger Kit from All-Pro Offroad

Drivetrain:




• Rear - 1995 Toyota V6 8" with Detroit Soft Locker, Precision Gear 4.88's
• Front - 1985 Toyota axle, V6 8" differential with ARB Air Locker, Precision Gear 4.88's
• Marlin Crawler 4.70:1 T-case - This gives me an overall crawl ratio of 87.1 to 1. 
• Aisin hubs
• Extended differential breathers
• Mountain Driveline rear driveshaft - Made from thinner tubing than stock, but with a thicker wall to make up for any strength issues.  It helps keep gas tank rubbing to a minimum.
• High Angle Driveline "Rock Crawler" front driveshaft

Armor / Damage Control Equipment:



• ARB Bull Bar modified by Lobster Fabrications to fit with the SAS
• Warn M8000 winch - (had to trim the bumper a little to accomodate the clutch lever)
• LobsterFab rear bumper with tire carrier, receiver hitch and 2 massive tow points
• BudBuilt Low-Profile Transfer Case Crossmember and Skid-Plate
• SkelleyBuilt Gas Tank Skidplate - My friend Patrick reinforced my stock skidplate w/ some BEEFY 3/8" steel plate! 
• Custom Rock-sliders
• Viper C-70 alarm

 

Tires:
 

• 35"x12.50"x15" Super Swamper TrXus M/T - These tires ride great on the road and while they're not as aggressive as some Swampers, they are heavily siped and have decent side-biting lugs.  I've only had them for a couple days (5/2/04), but the added clearance is welcome.  

 

Misc.:



• Safari Snorkel
• Downey V6 Headers backed by a custom bent 2.5" exhaust with a Car Sound free-flowing catalytic converter and Flowmaster muffler.
• ARB Air Compressor mounted in the passenger's side rear storage compartment to run the front locker.  Gotta get to work on my on-board air system!
• 1" Body Lift from Rusty's Off-Road
• Front fender-wells "clearanced" to fit the Swampers.  Talk about a tight fit!  Check this out.
• K&N Filtercharger - drop-in type
• Cobra 18-Ultra CB with Firestik external speaker
• 4 ft. Firestik II whip antennae mounted on the bull bar
• Advance Auto "Vortex" battery (Appears to be a rebadged Optima Red-Top)
• Back-Up Light - 55W Rubber-Cased Tractor Light mounted on tire carrier.  Here's another pic.  Here's the switch.

 
 

Planned future modifications / Wish List:
 
 

• Hy-pinion diff w/ ARB for the front so I can move the V6 8" w/ ARB to the rear.
• On-board air system - already have most of the parts.  Just gotta get off my lazy butt and do it!
