Gold Bar Rim

Gold Bar Rim is a pretty easy run, I believe it was rated at 3.5. This was the second day, and the second trip of the Labor Day weekend event for us. To the left, there was a slight off camber water fall that was quite interesting for wheel stands. To the right Carole was doing some really good driving. Of course I was spotting her to make sure we got through the first time. | ![]() |

Here to the left we are really flexing the suspension while taking a step off a ledge. It was really great how well the RKCRWLR handled while stepping up or down the ledges. To the right, a guy from Texas used a Cherokee frame, I believe, and made the frame to sit on it. This thing did really well. And with those huge tires, it walked up and down everything. | ![]() |

Here is another shot of me to the left climbing up a small ledge. And then under the truck checking out the gas tank, making sure its still ok. I also fabricated a traction bar, much like Jay's setup. He has a pretty good design there. I changed a few things. Soon I'll get around to posting that job. At any rate, this was the first real crawling, so I was checking it out. | ![]() |

Here are the dreaded pics the jeepers don't want you to see. The jeep I was pulling out was very clean, and appeared to be working fine when we started this trail. However, coming back, we all noted that his front axle was not engaging at all. Then, we also noticed that he only had power going to his right rear tire. So, as you can see, he wasn't going anywhere at all. | ![]() |

He had ARB lockers front and rear, however they were not doing the job. He thought he might have broken an axle, anyway you look at it, he needed help us this waterfall, and then all the way to the top of the hill, way past the pic. Bummer deal, I imagine it would be a pretty penny to get it fixed. To the right, Roger Bunch from the Sandia Jeep Club made short work of this obstacle. | ![]() |

Here is another pic of this creation by the Texan. He really made all the obstacles look very easy. Those huge Micky Thompson tires really make the difference. To the right, we headed out towards Bull canyon, part of the Gold Bar Rim trail. This was a lot fun climbing over these obstacles and making it look real easy. | ![]() |

Here Carole does a great job on a tough spot,
at least the other vehicles made it look tough. I had her stop in the middle
of the line for a kodak moment, then on she went, no problem. Over all, it was a really great run. The weather was great and we got to meet lots of great people. Moab is a must do place for Wheelin.... |
