Fuel Tanks

I will try to give you the best tech info I can as it comes to me. If you have a tip you would like to share please E-mail it to me.

(SECT-5.1)FUEL TANKS The stock VW fuel tank holds about 10 gallons and gets around 15(mpg). This may not be enought for thoes long off-road trips out in the middle of the bajas. The only solution is to add an extra fuel tank. Their are two kinds of fuel tanks that I recomend. One is a spun-aluminum tank. This is used in a lot of sand rails and can also be used in a baja bug. These tanks come in 5-10 gallons. You can mount these tanks in several different places. I have seen this tank right below the dash, under the hood. This happens to be right next to the electrical. Not a good idea if you roll your car and gas spills out all over. A good place for this tank is below the rear window. If you have the extra money it is worth the caust to get a fuel cell. Fuel cells are filled with foam. This preavents leaks or bursting is a crash. It is also very safe and at about $250 its required by most off-road organizatoins. A good place for a fuel cell is where the back seat use to be. I don't have a back seat, so I don't know if a fuel cell would fit with one. If you buy a fuel cell get at least a 20 gallon one.
