In september '96 I started my tour from Norway to Turkey, on my Harley-Davidson Sportster XLH 883 De Luxe, that I bought new in 1989.
This was the second "longer" tour on this "ultimate Touring-Machine"!! The first one was a three weeks tour, two-up, to Corsica in '92.
Through Europe I had no rush. I visited friends in Hamburg and Munic, spend a couple of days in Heiligenblut and also in Venice.
From Italy I went by the Ferry to Greece, had some beautiful days in the Peloppenes before I reached Athens. In Athens I parked the bike for a few days. It was just to warm an to much traffic to drive in Athens.
From Pireus I catched a Ferry to the Island of Kos. Lazy days there, before I arrived by boat in Turkey.
In the island of Kos/ Greece. A warm day..
I drove through:
Sweeden
Denmark
Germany
Austria
Italy
Greece
and finally Turkey
Modifications of the bike:
Jagg Oilcooler
12 liters tank (the originale is 8 liters)
XLX handlebar
Engine guard
Before I left home I changed the:
Fork oil and oilseals
Engine oil + filter
Transmission oil
Secondary chain and sprockets
Tires
Airfilter
All my gear, wich was quite a lot, got stuffed into my home-made saddlebags (a swedish product of two old swedish army-rucksacks and Volvo safety-belts), tankbag and a small backpack. As allways, I do bring to much stuff. It's just the way it is..
On the road to Antalia / Turkey. Another warm day..
The homepage is under construction. I'll add more photos and the complete story from this tour.
