The Millenium Patagonia Ride
The first day involved a half-day ride from Rancagua to Chillán, where the KTM riders got the knobbies changed on their bikes at the Spaarwater headquarters shop. The new tires were Metzeler Sahara Enduro 3 types, visible in the picture. The following day the mob made its way into the Chilean Lake District. The first picture shows them at Villarica, in the Chilean Lake District.See the map of this area on page 3.

That evening the dirt (gravel road) riding started, on highway 201 at Coñaripe, but the day ended with a stay at a comfortable cabaña in Termas de Liquiñe, and a soak in the swimming pool fed by hot springs.
In the last photo, Runyard is returning from "scouting" the area for the best place to stay. This usually turned out to be a good practice, rather than having the entire herd thundering through a town. A single motorcycle is less obtrusive, and Runyard was the only one who spoke the language well enough to negotiate for the right sort of accommodation deals.
Go ahead. You tell
some stories. ![]() |
