GUIDELINES

 Rules Governing Members of Explorer Post 125 Responding On Emergencies Involving Station 20 E.M.S.

  • 1.) No Explorer shall ride on the Ambulance after 10:00 p.m. on a regular school night. (This does NOT apply during summer vacation or other holidays where school is not in session.)


  • 2.) No Explorer shall ride the Ambulance during regular school hours. (The same exceptions apply as noted above.)


  • 3.) To ride the Ambulance the Explorer must have at least standard first aid and a current CPR card.


  • 4.) It will be the Charge – E.M.T. & his/her crew’s decision as to whether or not the Explorer may go on the call. –
    THIS IS SUPERSEDED BY SECTION 6, A THRU I.


  • 5.) When riding on the Ambulance or responding to the scene the Explorer shall be directly responsible to the Charge – E.M.T. - any Advisor on the call, or the Ambulance Captain. (In that order)


  • 6.) There are certain incidents where NO Explorer will be allowed to respond. This list includes, but is not limited to the following:

    A.) Fires or M.V.A.’s or ambulance emergencies where there are reports of fatalities.
    B.) Emergencies at Boro or State Police Headquarters or Ashler Manor
    C.) Assault Victims
    D.) Haz-Mat Incidents
    E.) Suicides
    F.) Shooting Victims
    G.) Incidents involving possibly intoxicated individuals
    H.) Maternity Emergencies
    I.) Mental Patients
    J.) Incidents involving patients known to be infected with H.I.V., hepatitis, or other blood or air borne pathogens


    This is a list of calls that NO Explorer is to respond on. As mentioned above, this list is subject to additions by the Advisors, the Chief, or the Ambulance Captain. Post 125 will be notified of any changes in this policy.
