Tunnels in the Rogers Pass

These two pictures are taken from inside the East portal of the Connaught Tunnel. The one on the left in the late 1920's and the one on the right in the mid 1950's.
This shot was taken during the construction of the east portal of the Connaught Tunnel prior to 1916. Notice the embankment on the right of the tracks as this is a marker that still exists.
This photo of the same entrance was taken in 1995. The year 1916 above the arch in the tunnel is clearly visible, but the lettering across the top that says "Connaught Tunnel" is missing, and only a faint shadow remains on the cement.
This image from 1995 depicts a car carrier train entering the tunnel. The tunnel was originally double tracked,
however during the 1950's the tunnel was converted to single track to allow over height box cars and other large rail equipment to pass through the tunnel.
