Black VultureBlack Vulture ( Coragyps atratus )

The Black vulture can be identified from below. It shows white patches at the base of the primaries. It is a gregarious and aggressive bird. It occasionally preys on young unprotected birds and small mammals. Common in open country and around human settlements where it scavenges in garbage dumps and at fishing piers. Ranges over the southern and eastern U.S.






California CondorCalifornia Condor (Gymnogyps californianus )

The California Condor is now probably extinct in the wild. It was formerly found in arid foothills and mountains of southern and central California. The adult has whitelining on the wings and the head is orange colored. They soar on flat wings in search of large carrion such as deer, cattle and sheep.








Turkey VultureTurkey Vulture ( Cathartes aura )

The Turkey Vulture can be identified from below by the two-toned wings. The flight feathers are gray and the linings are black. The adult has a red featherless head and white bill. Can usually be found in dry open country, woodlands and farmlands. (It is sometimes miscalled " buzzard ") Ranges over all of the Continental U.S. and the southern parts of the provinces of Canada..
