Project CJ-7
added 3/25/98

Well here it goes.

This weekend I got all motivated and decided to tackle some
projects on my Jeep that I had been putting off for a while.
Two things: (1.)Clean up the carb and (2.)fix the busted
mounting flange on the radiator that I had trail fixed with a
ratchet strap about a year ago.

So I'm standing there looking down into the engine bay
scratching my head and wondering what to tackle first when
this dim light bulb fizzled into life somewhere in my murky
brain. I think to myself, hmm, ya know I bet it wouldn't be
too hard to take off the fenders and the grill and it sure
would be easier to work on the motor that way... six hours
later, five cups of coffee and with a little help from Troy,
I managed to comepletely dismantle my Jeep except for the
motor and drive-train. WOW... now what?

I learned several things from this:

1. A Jeep is a very simple vehicle to take apart.
2. Rust is a lot worse than it looks.
3. The body was shot.

to be continued...

I'll have some diagrams drawn up on how I took apart the
steering column and how I disconnected the the tranny cooler
lines from the radiator.
