Who are The Copts?

The word “Copts” is equal to the word ”Egyptian” and it is a word driven from the old Egyptian language ”Hac-Captah” or “the house of Patah’s soul”; one of the greatest Gods in the Egyptian legends. And since Islam came to Egypt, “Copts” has been the word used to refer to Christians.

Copts are the successors of the Pharos, that’s why they are named the new Pharos. They have played a main role in the Christian world especially during the first five centuries. Their background had helped them to accept Christianity eagerly, enjoying its depths in their lives; life of meditation and studying the Bible.
“St. Mark Chair” is the other name for the Coptic Church. It’s one of the first four churches in the world: Jerusalem, Antakice, Alexandria and Rome. Through all life time, the Coptic Church has been named the Church of Martyrs not only because the very huge number of martyrs but also because the way they accepted death in the name of Christ. When they were ordered to give up Christ they didn’t escape or retreat. They showed their strong faith everywhere to everyone and finally got what they wanted; the crown of martyrdom.
Copts and The Life Devoutness:
Devoutness is not an objective in itself but it’s way to react to God’s love. From Egypt, all devoutness systems in were launched for the first time to the whole world and that was in the fourth century.
The Coptic Church has passed all the period between the seventh century and the twenties century in a severe war trying to hold on to true and straight faith and it succeeded. Allover the world, people are astonished to see that the Coptic Church has maintained to stay as it was in the very beginning. Teachings have never changed from the era of the Apostles.
Nowadays, the Coptic Church is passing some refreshments. Church-Education Schools are now one of the fundamental branches in all churches. The Coptic Church is now open to all churches allover the world. Emigrates from Egypt are now in the U.S., Canada, Australia and Europe and all of them follow the mother Coptic.
We may pray to God that He would save his churches all over the world so that the light of his word will show his people the way to Heaven, always Amen.
