Pope
Shenouda III
and the establishing
of churches
During the presidency of pope Shenouda many Coptic Orthodox
churches had been established nearly in all places around the world . Sometimes
there is more than one church in one region . Our churches had spread in
the fife continents of the world . Before the presidency of pope shenouda
there was only seven churches all over the world which are two churches
in Canada (Torento and Montreal ) two churches in United States of
America (Gersy City and Los Anglos ) two churches in Australia (Sidney
and Melbourne ) and one church in London . Today there is about 150 churches
spreading all over the world and about 160 priests serving these churches
under the care of nine Bishops .In addition to two monastries in Australia
in Sydney and Melbourne .
During pope Shenouda presidency he has visited many foreign
countries and during his visiting he had established and consecrated many
Coptic Orthodox Churches . Now we have 33 churches in Australia , 63 in
America , 13 in Canada , 14 in England , four in France , six in Germany
, three in Holland . In addition to this , three churches in Austria ,
three in Switzerland , two in Italy three in Kobrous , one church in each
of the following countries : Denmark , Greece , Sweden and Belgium.
Not only his journeys included foreign countries but
also it included Arab countries in Which he had also established many churches
. We have a Coptic church in Trablus , another in Benghazi and a third
in Algeria , in addition to three churches in Alkods (church of St. Antony
, church of Queen Helana and a church of the appearance of St. Mary ).
In Yafa the church of the Gospel . In addition to churches
in Iraq , Kewit and Lebanon .
Moreover we cannot forget pope Shenouda and pope Antonious
Markos Bishop for African affaires efforts in South Africa . There has
been constructed about seven new churches in South Africa due to the new
comers from South Africa joining the Coptic churches. The construction
of all these churches led to the Ordination of priests or sending them
from the Mother church in Egypt, which consequently led to the ordination
of Bishops. All these Coptic churches are registered as branches emanating
from the Mother church in Egypt and under the care of Pope Shenouda the
third.
