A leading church

Saint Mary Church, Masarra is not only the oldest one in shoubra, but it is also considered as a leading church in many services:

 1. The first church in shoubra which celebrates the new year eve cermony (on 31 Dec. 1960)
 2. The first church in Shoubra which teaches the scolar lessons for students.
 3. The first church in Shoubra which distributes a spiritual book for rebated price 50% monthly.
 4. The first church which the minister Nazeer Gayed Rafaeel “ H.H.Pope Shenouda 3” breaches in. He also served as a minister a long time in El Nahda El Rouhiya Coptic association in Masarra.
 5. The first and the only church that is administrated by H.H.Pope Shenouda 6 as the chief of its board of directors (since 1978).

Many priests have cosecrated to the ministry of the Gospel in Saint mary church, Masarra such as:

Father Sidaros Ghali ( Ex Papal delegate)
Father Markos Ghali ( Late Papal delegate) who rebuild the church. He also opened the church for the Sundat\y school as it was prohibited.
Father Manquarious Awadallah: The rite teacher in faculty of clerics   ( Now in Canada)
Father Boulos Bassily.
Father Arsanious Zaki ( The breaching Knight)
Father Boutros Guirguis.
Father Mikhael Edward ( The first cleric in Masarra, now in Clifland)
Father Markos Beshara ( The first priest to be ordinated for Masarra 1972)
Father Antonious Tawfik ( Ex Masarraian youth minister)
Father Mina Tamer.
Father Shenouda halim ( Ex Masarrain Deacons minister)
Father Abraam Musaad ( Serves especially the Hekr region)

Diaconate

An active & developing ministry served by youth ministers under supervision of archdeacon Salib Markos Ateya for more than 35 years.

Masarra ministry has been distinguished by its energy & numerous members & ministers. IT has been supervised by many chief ministers like:
From 1947 toll 1962: Mr. Adeeb Sidhom ( Late Father Youhanna Sidhom of St. George Coptic church at Gezierat Badran after that date)
From 1962 till 1971: Eng. Samir Adly.
From 1971 till 1972: Mr. Samy Shenouda.
From 1972 till 1975: Eng. Samir Adly.
From 1975 till 1991: Eng. Anis Halim ( Father Shenouda Halim of St. Mina Coptic Church Holmdel USA now)
From 1991 till now: Eng. Khalil Zaki ( A member of the higher Committee of ministers of St. Mark See.)
