Well, hell! 5pm and the temperature is around 36 degrees -
excluding the discomfiture factor (humidity, etc). Sitting here with the ceiling
fans working way beyond overtime and the elephant undoing all Robin's hard work
in the gardens outside!
The remainder of day 5, after the visits by the elephant and the hippo grazing
on the lawn, was relatively peaceful. After a funal little wee Bells and water,
it was down to the pool for a cooldown dip (pic 1) and then to lie on a hot bed
and try to sleep.

Plan was to get up bright and early for a game drive. Tried, I promise! Problem
was the flat tyre staring us in the face!
After sweaty repair work, did a quick trip down to the lakeshore, then home for
breakfast - the full healthy bacon-and-eggs-and toast number. It was obviously
STUNNING, as we were joined by a couple of the local elephant population -
photos 2 and 3.

Then it was of to Kariba town - buffalo en route . First stop a
visit to the dam wall (did you know that of all the dams built by the company
involved here, only one is still standing - reputedly???!!!) One can
stroll out on the wall after handing in your passport at customs - just don't
cross over the magic line into what then becomes - magically -
Zambia!!! Also, don't lean over both parapet walls - quite a feat if you
COULD!
The Zimbabwe Republic Police guard the wall
After the usual visit to curio sellers it was off to Caribbea Bay Resort for a
cool down drink or 4. Then back to Nzou Lodges and an afternoon at the
pool, followed by an evening game / beer drive. This eve is roast chicken done
in the 3-legged cast iron pot on the fire. No doubt we will have our usual
4-legged visitors popping in to shre their tales of the day - YAWN.
