Greetings from Keetmanshoop, largest urban spot in
the south of Namibia! Have dispatched the group to the Quiver Tree Forest and
the Giant's Playground for a quick viewing while we do the last Nam shop!
Had a wonderful night at Roy's - rated as one of
the nicest camp sites by the group. Stopped in at Hoba Meteorite (Largest in
the world) - pic 2.
The following day we headed south to Okapuka Ranch
just north of the capital, Windhoek. The evening lion feed was enjoyed by all.
A stunning camp sit-e - our "wildest" to date. HOT showers under the
stars - AND a good braai (again!).
the 5th was a shopper's orgasm - Windhoek is still
reeling from the impact of all the Pounds and $ spent by our avid foreign
shoppers!!!! Gave us a chance to catch up on
some work - and shopping! But not enough for
sending pics - SO sorry.
Then - after dragging them, especially Ricardo!! -
away, kicking and screaming, we continued south into the Kalahari, for INTU
AFRICA camping. What a superb place! (Pic 3) No attitude, just warm, friendly
people who went out of their way to help us, even when the VW got stuck in the
red Kalahai sand!!!!

2 glorious days there - yesterday morning was the
early morning (should have heard the moans) Bushman / San walk. Fascinating,
and not quite as kitch and patronisingly fishbowl as some. The afternoon game
drive (pic 4 - separate email!) saw everyone return ENRAPTURED - bat-eared
fox, giraffe, oryx, lion AND leopard! (THANKS Jacques - the guide). Gustav and
David of the staff joined us around the fire for dinner.
From here it's south to the border - hopefully a
quicker process than on the way in! Camping on the !Gariep River on the
SAfrica side tonight, then back to Cape Town tomorrow!!!
