Day 1

A group of 8! A United Nations collection - OF NOTE! 2 Turks, 2 South Africans, 1 Scot, USA! What a time, what a group! Arrived at the Namibian border to find a queue of about 100 vehicles waiting to get through! (Namibia has not yet discovered the art of computer technology at border posts!)

So, spent night 1 on the banks of the GARIEP RIVER (known to the "whenwes" of SAfirca as the Orange). Then to the Fish River Canyon - a STUNNING place to stay is the Canyon Roadhouse - 150% rating. Pic 1 = Fish River Canyon.

Day 2 saw us head north to the dunes of Sossusvlei -= via the FLOWING Lowen River - in one of the driest countries of the world! - pic 2.

Then - the dunes! The dead land of Sossusvlei - STUNNING!!! Pic 3 = Daed Vlei - obvious reasons!

Then on to the couple-of-million-year-old Sesriem Canyon - pic 5 - for a quick visual.

Having endured punctures, sand, dust, wind, etc, we hit Namibia's prime holiday destination - Swakopmund, for 2 days. Hot showers, electricity, celphone contact, supermarkets, restaurants!!! Sundowners at The Tug - pic 6.

Then sunrise over the dunes outside Swakop! Yeah!

After a stunning braai, various folk crawled off to bed in various states of intoxication! SIS! Tomorrow off to the San art of Twyfelfontein, then Etosha for ANIMALS!! More emails in 2 days time! BYE.
