This is a drawing I did for Urban design class in the Fall of 98. This illustration is an interpretation of a chapter in the book Invisible Cities by Calvino. The city, Euphemia, is a river city where travelers come from seven parts of the world to trade their wares. It seemed like such an interesting place to be. This rendering (marker on trace) was inspired by the several Marshall Johnson painting I have up in my house. You can also detect a little Utrillo influence. I need work on the people eh?
This is a montage from my European sketchbook. I traveled there in the summer of 98' as part of a class at CSU. These are images from Vaux le Vicompte and Versailles. If you haven't been I suggest you get there soon. Pretty incredible.
Another drawing for Urban Design. This was redrawn from the cover of Great Streets. It captures the character and quality of the Roman street. I included as part of my inventory of the Urban elements of Rome.
