Thoughts of one stuck somewhat gratefully in high schoolIf only tomorrow could have lasted until today And today would last forever If only I could hold you all here, capture your smiles And stop all your tears. If only this weren’t inevitable And change wouldn’t come We could keep going on as we have always gone. If we could dwell in leisure for always And stay young as now we are We might grin and spin through our years And land somewhere on a star. If only I could speak to you And tell you all I’m thinking But you’ll all move on; now you’re so completely here Tomorrow you’ll be gone I can’t hold the wind any more than I can hold you You can’t stop here for me If you could stay forever you wouldn’t want to, Yet we both don’t want you to leave. Soon, everything will be different All we know will change Different doesn’t always mean worse, still different’s just not the same. Fo(u)r years we’ve been together and we’ve just begun to make a start Together now, as who we are. . . and beginning to be torn apart. Time now is all that we have and all that we lack Only days left as ‘together’ and ‘same’ Time enough only for farewell, and going as quickly as we came. Together, the same . . . again? Never. Different, apart, bittersweetly, forever. Ismene 5/98 Follow the yellow brick road!![]()
