Dolphins in Your Dreams
Our DreamingWorld mailing list gives their impressions on Dolphins :-)

Freedom and perhaps leadership and good luck....dolphins swim in front of ships as if they are leading them...and were considered good luck if they did lead a ship....

~Zandra~

Dolphins to me are the spirit of the ocean, I love them. To me they are very spiritual beings, and they inspire love and joy in all. They are to me representative of spiritual dreams and lessons, family, companionship.

Welllll...from my strange divinatory book it says that dreaming of Dolphins usully means a great change entering your life where you have to let go of something that has been haunting or hindering your progress.
From my psychology stuff, Dolphins are similar to fish in general in that they are meant to represent deep unconscious processes and a link with the collective unconscious.
For me personally, likewise dolphin has proven to be a power animal for me :-) and usually shows up as bringing hidden wisdom from the unconscious, and a reminder to intuitively think and analyse, rather than just try to logic things out. Most importantly, Dolphin usually appears when I'm getting too serious about things and I need reminding that for the mind to be in harmony it has to be free to explore and have fun, limited by lack of humour and logic.

One of my books makes note of the fact that Dolphins can mean Spiritual sensitivity and safety.
I see them as looking within our subconscious, the hidden side that we all have. The image of the dolphin would then be a guide to exploring and understanding that side of ourselves, but a way to rise back to the surface, back to the conscious self. I also think that they can represent that playful side as well, especially when there are a group of them.
And if we are fortunate enough to swim with one then i think that points to getting in touch with our very basic nature. hehehehe, i am a pisces though and partial to my undine friends :o) When i go swimming and especially underwater i feel as though i have returned to my very basic self and i allow myself to be pulled under in my dreams alot because i love the feeling of it.

This is the weirdest feeling I know what dolphins mean to me but I can't verbalise it. I'll put it another way they represent what I feel when I listen to a great piece of music or see something incredible beautiful. To me they represent creativity that seems to come from the source itself.

If I ever saw a dolphin in a dream of mine, I would wake up in a pleasant mood for once. A dolphin to me means that all is well; everything is going peacefully and beautifully, or is about to at least.

To me they represent community and companionship as they're usually seen in groups. Also, communication, and as Vivaldi said, well being or a sign that all is well. I have noticed that dolphins have recently been found swimming rivers and near beaches over here that were polluted but have now been cleaned up. The dolphins were not seen for years because of the pollution but they have returned. That to me says that everything is fine and well. Nothing more spectacular than seeing them swim around, especially since they haven't been seen in areas for years. The most recent was at the beach here where I live. A group of them were just a few meters out and cars and people were lined up on the side of the highway for hundreds of meters to see them. They haven't been seen here for well over 50 or so years. You know it's a good sign when you see them in any waterway.

Keep on Dreaming,

AND A DOLPHIN DREAM INTERPRETED:

Well I went to the web site and it said it has to do with spirituality.

I recently had a dream about a white dolphin with gray markings. I was on a small rocky beach and it was on shore. It swam/wriggled? through a giant shell. I was told to do the same and I did. Then I ended up in a narrow desert canyon with towering columns of rock (sandstone I believe). There were various plants in crags and crannies and there was a cool breeze. The sky above was bright blue with no clouds. I think there might have been small trickling streams too... it was damp in places anyway. I was looking for something and I think i found it. Now if I could only remember what it was... I think this may have been connected to my wanting to find out what my animal spirit guide was but I don't think its a dolphin. Who knows...

That does actually sound like an excerpt from a Journey I have to admit, it may be that Dolphin agreed to guide you to your first Power Animal. Maybe you could try and recreate the scene in a meditation and ask Dolphin to Guide you once again...just don't go anywhere if you don't get a Guide turn up! :-)

Anyway as a dream, psychologically it would probably be interpreted as emotions, or a realisation of sorts making it in past your defenses (the shell). The difference in landscapes outside and inside show how different you feel to how you believe people perceive you, and that you rarely let anything into that interior. The sky is clear, which is a good sign.
