How God met me....

I was raised up in a Christian family and because of that, I was brought up in the circle of Christians friends. Sunday after Sunday, I would hear wonderful stories of the Bible. Being a kid, I was fascinated by the miracles and wonders that God has done and what's more, I was told it was true!( unlike the fairy tales I heard in school). But no one has ever told me about how much God loves me and how HE wants me to be reconciled back to Him. No one has told me about the gospel since everybody assumed that I knew the gospel as I was " brought up in a Christian environment!" ( That is why,  when I go for witnessing, I would tell the person about the gospel first even though he might tell me he was a "Christian").

Then one day, God decided to meet me face to face.......

The Sunday school in my church organized a Sunday school camp and the teachers encouraged me to go. I was really reluctant to go as it was my first time I have to leave home and take care of myself( it was my first camp). I was only 11 years old then. But under the "strong encouragement" of my Sunday school class teacher , I took the step of faith and went. I have  never regretted my decision ( that is why, I went to almost all of the crusade and church camps ever since!). It was a super fun camp and most importantly, God revealed Himself to me....

I remembered it was a sermon by a speaker who spoke in mandarin ( it was a Chinese Sunday school camp), it was then I heard the gospel and what's more, in Mandarin! I understood fully ( by the grace of God!) the gospel and I heard the speaker asking  for a response from the listeners whether to receive Christ as our LORD and Savior. Then God spoke to me tenderly ( can't really remembered what He said) and it is the first time, I felt a strong presence surrounding me and I felt His love and prompting. It was then I made the most important decision in my life ( it still is!) , I raised my hand and I said "yes" and after which, I recited the sinners' prayer ( in Chinese!). That was my first encounter with the Creator...a simple, innocent child to the Almighty who created the heavens and earth.

I have never ever regretted my decision. The Christian life is full of adventures and thrills contrary to what the world thinks and portrays. In contrasts to the Christian monks often mistakenly depicted in the TV spending their lives in solitude and chanting, Christians are not dull people. Christians are living a powerful life as God lives in them. Though we might still do bad things sometimes but we are going forth towards a better person that God wants us to be. Christianity is not just about rituals but a love relationship between the Father and His son. We are His children and we have a hope in HIM.

" FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON THAT WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH IN HIM WILL NOT PERISH BUT HAVE ETERNAL LIFE." JOHN 3:16
