Stuart Little: Lesson 4

Area: Language Arts Purpose: Students will: -Draw their own conclusions about what happened to Margalo. -Write a short sequel reflecting these conclusions. Rationale: Students should be encouraged to express their thoughts, opinions, and predictions about what might happen in the future. Materials: -Copies of Stuart Little -word processor, type writer, or good writing paper Content: Dependent on each child's story. Should include Stuart and Margalo. Activities: 1. Read individually or as a group Stuart Little 2. Write a list of conclusions independently for 20 minutes after last chapter of the book 3. Begin turning #2 into a sequel 4. Create a rough draft. Proofread for spelling and grammar. Peer review with teacher approval. 5. Create final draft on good paper. Management: Individual work, share with peers with teacher's approval. Pairs may sit together quietly in reading circle Assessment: Story will be checked for correct grammar and spelling and for correct characters.
