Never Ending Pain

Trapped inside a cage of consciousness
Never to behold divinity, blindness
A black tongue licks sanity clean from the walls
And deep inside, a sickness sees reality fall
Eyeless, staring into a void
Starry eyed, the universe unfolds
As it should

Remember the words spoken during infancy
To cover, comfort, clothe betrayal
Echo speaks: something about this so very wrong
The speed of pain, transform
Elemental anger -

The fabric of reality bristles
Obscure, senses are floating
In a caustic fluid
Word association changed
Nothing stays the same

Why?
Why?
Why?

A whole world of agony beckons
I can't let myself be taken there
But who am I fucking kidding?
I've built my house on its shifting sand

A fantastic empire
Crumbling in the rain

Why this frustration
Why this apathy
Why be surrounded by such idiocy
Why the senses
Why the need for guilt
Why will it never stop?
Why the eternal, never ending pain?

I've cried into the night so many fucking times
And I've never heard an answer…
