Texas Reading Club and the Commerce Public Library presents

The theme for kids 12 and under this year is Texas Reading Club Jubilee 1958-2008.  This year the Texas State Library has introduced a teen reading program called Game On! Texas Teens Read 2008, also known as TTR.08.

We will begin with a Kick Off Sock Hop on Friday, June 6th from 2:00 to 4:00.  This party is for kids and teens of all ages to sign up for the program and enjoy a fun pizza party with cool 50's music.

The following six weeks we'll celebrate different decades.  The activities for kids 12 and under will follow Texas State Library themes from the past.  There will be stories, crafts and activities that highlight each week's theme.  The kids will get to learn about space, nature, dinosaurs, the Wild West, famous people, and inventors.

Teens will have the chance to try out games from the past, such as Hula Hoops, Twister, trivia games, role-playing games, vintage arcade games, home video games, and Paint Ball.

The program will wrap up with a 50th Birthday Bash, celebrating the Texas State Library's 50 years of Texas Reading Club.  We will have birthday cake, ice cream, balloons, and party games.

Registration starts May 27th.  Prizes will be awarded for the number of books read throughout the summer.   Details of the prizes and rules will be announced at the kick off party.  We hope to see you there!!
