  • Indicator Words
    1. Some words indicate that what follows is a premise.
      For example:
      Since the fondue is warm, ...

    2. Some words indicate that what follows is a conclusion.
      For example:
      Therefore, dinner is ready.

    3. Remember, a conclusion might be either a sub-conclusion or the main conclusion.
      For example:
      1) If a mouse is caught by this trap, then that mouse is slow.
      2) A mouse was in fact caught by this trap.
      3) Therefore, this mouse is slow.
      4) If a mouse is slow, then that mouse is less likely to get away with the cheese.
      5) Thus, this mouse is less likely to get away with the cheese.
