Diary 2003
· Jan 8 - Winter term starts. A wintry view from our house.
· January - Phil away a lot in Belgium on business.
· Feb 6-14 - Phil & Bec to Los Angeles, while Aidan & Stasia with Grandparents. 2 days holiday visiting Santa Barbara & Angeles National Forest. Then P to attend sales exhibition at American Met Society conference - in Long Beach by the Queen Mary. Meanwhile R rests on a bed of nails!!
· Mar 10-14 - Phil to Tanzania for Meteorological Consultancy.
· Mar 9 - 2 new arrivals to the Dominy Family!
· 6 weeks later 4 baby gerbils - soon growwnups!!
· Apr 12-27 Easter Holidays
· Apr 13 - Second visit to new Exeter Met Office Site - some parts almost finished and some with work to do! Aidan's Lego model of the site!
· Easter at Danehill, Sussex
· Saturday - all the family to Nymans House (NT)
· Sunday - Phil's parents last service before retirement
· Apr 23-27 - Phil's 'Magnum Opus': removing a large old pond, filling it in and turfing it over! Now a much bigger back lawn!!
· May 15-29 Holiday in France! At favourite Holiday Village on the Cote-d'Azur, surrounded by its own golf course and National Park! Flew to Nice and a fortnight in the sun, near Frejus. Also went with Bec's sister and family. Fun for all the family: Phil, Bec, Aidan and Stasia! Aidan & Stasia also enjoyed a Kids Club some afternoons
· June 14 - Helped with Church Fete. Ran the 'Rollerball' stand!
· July 1 - Phil started new Met Office job as Defence Outcomes Manager. Less international travel - so family happy! More applied science.
· July 4 - Phil's cousin Michelle got married to Robert in Portishead. Stasia and cousin Georgia bridesmaids,and Aidan an 'honourary' page boy. Great gathering of the Dominy clan!
· July 6-13 Whimple Village Week - lots of Fancy dress, Festivity, & Fairtrade!
· July 19 - Summer Hols start.
· July 19 - Phil's Grandmother's 90th Party.
· July 25 - Whimple Home's 1st Anniversary - wrote article for 'Whimple News' village magazine!
· July 26-Aug 2 - To massive New Wine Christian Family Conference - 11,000 people! Whole family camping. One day in awful weather helped clear up playground and wasteground on housing estate in Bristol.
· Aug 16 - To Phil & Mary's amazing wedding (with lots of old Oxford friends)
· Aug 19 - Stasia's 6th Birthday party in the village hall! Phil built Wendy House for present!
· Sep 3 - Back to School.
· Sep 8-12 Phil Weather Training in Tanzania
· Sep 15 - Met Office relocates to Exeter - dramatic new building. Phil stopped weekly commuting to Bracknell. Hurrah - at last!! His desk in the hi-tec open-plan environment.
· Sep 20 - Phil's Parents' Ruby Wedding - amazing display depicting their 40 years together.
· Oct 27-31 - Half Term
· Nov 5 - Amazing (dangerous!) "Otter Tar Barrels" - age-old tradition in Ottery St Mary (close to Whimple) of setting alight barrels coated with tar, and then running with them through the streets! A completely mad event!!
· Dec 5 - Met Office Christmas Ball at Great Hall, Exeter.
· Dec 19 - End of term.
· New Year with Friends
