Over the years I have taught every grade from preschool to Grade nine. For the last 22+ years I have concentrated on Primary level children, particularly Kindergarten, Grade One and Grade Two.
I have been married for 34 years and have two married children. My son has his degree in Computer Science, while my daughter is a Professional Engineer, living in Texas.. Since I was my son's Kindergarten teacher I feel that perhaps I had something to do with his success. My husband probably had more to do with my daughter's success since he was the one who encouraged our children's interest in science.
My interests include computers - especially designing web pages, reading, jigsaw puzzles, playing Chicken-leg Domino games with friends, trying out new recipes, sewing and going for long walks with my husband. I collect cookbooks, old books, and eggs.
Educational interests include whole language, early literacy, 4-blocks balanced literacy program, use of computers in education, and multicultural curriculum to name just a few. I have always enjoyed teaching and am always willing to try out new ideas. My primary consideration is for the children in my classrooms - I will use whatever will help them to make sense of their world. My motto is:
If children are excited, curious, resourceful, confident about their ability to figure things out and eager to exchange opinions, with other children and adults, they are bound to go on learning, particularly when they are out of the classroom and throughout the rest of their lives.
