369th Regiment (Old New York 15th): A rattlesnake that is curled about and ready to strike.
This name was given to the Regiment by the French soldiers because the 369th took a certain piece of ground from the Germans in France that was called Rattlesnake Hill.
The 370th Regiment (Old 8th Illinois): Red Devil
The 371st and 372nd: Red Hand.
Colonel James A. Moss was in command of the 367th Regiment at Camp Upton in the US. He made the suggestion that his regiment should be called the "Buffalos. Later, the whole 92nd Division took the insignia "Buffalo". The exception was the Artillery soldiers who used the swastika design.
