NZ Black Fern Team -  Reigning World Champs
The NPC has been highly successful this year. Auckland won the first division while Hawke's Bay won the second division championship. Congratulations to both and all the teams that took part.

The Canada Cup ran from the 23rd - 30th September in Winnipeg.

This quadrangular tornament, played every four years, invloves England, United States, Canada and New Zealand. It was last won by New Zealand in 1996.

On the 15th September 2000 it was anounced thatthe Spanish Rugby Union has been awarded the fourth Women’s Rugby World Cup (WRWC) to be held in   Barcelona, Spain in May 2002. 

 Welcoming the decision, Rob Fisher, Vice-Chairman of the IRB and Chairman of the Women’s Advisory Committee said: “This is yet another reflection of Spain’s  unprecedented growth in Rugby. They participated in RWC 1999, qualified for the RWC 7’s in 2001and hosted the Women’s European Championship in May this year. 

Spain will host the fourth WRWC, the inaugural championship took place in Cardiff in 1991 where USA were victorious, England were winners in 1994 when it was  hosted by Edinburgh and New Zealand are current champions after the 1998 Championship in Amsterdam. 

Stephen Baines, IRB Chief Executive added: “Women’s  rugby is one of the fastest growing female sports in the world and IRB’s commitment to the global development is evident in the special grant of £425,000 that has been given to the Championship to ensure its success”.
