Tropical Technology Center Ltd. (TTC) was established on October 25, 1990, with is shares to be held by Okinawa Prefecture, The Japan Region Development Corporation, Cities and Towns concerned, and private enterprises, as an axis organization to promote the Okinawa Brain Location Plan framed for the purpose of accumulating the brain incentive industries in the Okinawa area.

TTC is an incubation organization which provides for an overall assistance for intensification of industries by promoting research and development and industrialization making the most of the regional characteristics of Okinawa; by training capable persons to support such projects; and by providing for neccesary information and accelerating exchanges among different sectors.

Fundamental Objetive

TTC aims at contributing to the intensification to the local industries through promotion of research and development, and industrialization jointly working with the industrial circles, the academic circles and the bureaucrat circles, and by training the capable persons who are able to support such projects, and at the same time, at forming the Research in Resort open to the world.

Research and Development Project

• Main field will be study the intensified industrial use of the resourses in the tropical and subtropical areas.
• Emphasis will be placed on research and development on a practical level to promote industrialization.
• Training of researchers will be carried out on the spot of the actual research and development.
• Assistance will be offered for industrialization in the form of rental laboratory, renting of equipment for research activities, and conducting of researchers and trainings on behalf of the enterprises.

Information Technology Utilization Project

• Research and study about new technologies and new products related to data processing will be carried out, and assistance for industrialization will be offered.
• Consultation and coordination will be conducted for the public and advanced information oriented projects.
• Capable persons such as SE and instructors and managers needed by the information industries will be trained.
• High technology and high quality data machines and communication network will be provided for joint use and rental use.

Human Resource Exchanges Promotion Project

• Assistance will be offered to promote human resource exchanges among different types of industries, and among the industry, academy and bureaucrats.
• Various human resource exchange projects will be promoted by holding lectures, symposiums and seminars, and by issuing public relations magazines.
• Information concerning research and development, and new technologies will be offered.

Research and Study Project

• Various study will be offered on research and development, and information development.
• Research and development will be conducted on domestic products using local characteristics, and research and study will also be conducted to promote these enterprises.

Intensification of Industries, and Creation of New Industries

• TTC creates a "place" where "exchange of people, goods and information" can take place freely and activily.
• TTC will carry out research activities working jointly with the infustry circles, the academic circles and bureaucrat circles, and verifying the direction of the research and development by means of investigation of the seeds and needs, and research.
• TTC will broadly open its door to the young researchers from the enterprises within the prefecture, and will train the creative and capable persons who are able to support the intensified research and development and industrialization.
• In order to industrialize the result of research, a pilot project will be carried out to firmly establish the production tecnologies, and to verify economy. Also, marketing research will be conducted to secure the marketability.
• TTC's objective is to intensify the industries and to create new industries. TTC is ready to exert itself to sistematically connect these projects, and to attain its objective.
