The College

The college has up to 170 young people age from 16 to 25. All have physical disabilities and some students also have learning difficulties, sensory or communication impairments. Almost all the students live at the college during term time and they come from all over the United Kingdom. A few students have parents working in other European countries.

The college has four residential units and departments of occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy and rehabilitation engineering. There is also a medical centre with 12 beds for in-patients.

Students learn skills for independent living, and vocational and pre-vocational skills in health and social care, art and design, information technology, leisure and tourism, performing arts, media studies, administration , customer care and retailing. Some students study for advanced academic qualifications - General Certificate of Education Advanced levels (GCE A-levels) and Advanced General Vocational Qualifications (GNVQs) -at a nearby mainstream college.
