When you have completed your training and learning time (typically a year and a day's time), and have chosen the path of Solitary witch, you may perform a self dedication ritual. There are many different kinds of these rituals and many people like to fashion their own. Some even correspond with certain solar holidays (My dedcation fall on the Summer Solstice, and has it's own rite that is different from this one since it falls on a special event). You may also want to do a redeication each year on at the same time as when you did the original dedication.
On a night of the full moon, cast a circle with white chalk or paint, about six feet in diameter. Sprinkle a bit of salt over the circle to consecrate it.
Sit in the center of the circle facing north with two white candles and a censer of franckincense and myrrh incense before you. (It is best to perform this ritual skyclad [nude]; however, if you feel uncomfortable working without clothes, you may wear a white ceremonial robe instead.)
Light the incense and meditate for awhile until your mind is free of all unpleasent thoughts and your body is completely relaxed. Light the first candle and say:
O MOTHER GODDESS, CREATRESS OF LIFE IN THIS SACRED CIRCLE OF LIGHT, I DO PLEDGE MYSELF TO HONOR AND SERVE THEE, AND TO ABIDE BY THY WICCAN REDE, FOR AS LONG AS I SHALL LIVE. SO MOTE IT BE!
Light the second candle and say:
O GREAT HORNED GOD, LORD OF THE WOODLANDS, IN THIS SACRED CIRCLE OF LIGHT I DO PLEDFE MYSELF TO HONOR AND SERVE THEE, AND TO PROTECT THE SECRETS OF THE ANCIENT ONES FOR AS LONG AS I SHALL LIVE, SO MOTE IT BE!
Hold your open hands up to the sky. Close your eyes and visualize two white beams of glowing light streaking down from the heavens above and flowing into your palms. A warm, tingling feeling will begin to spread through your body as the love power of the Goddess and God cleanses your soul of all evil and negativity.
Remain in the circle until both of the candles have burned themselves out.
