The Water Particle

The solid ice that is our home,
We water particles float about,
Forever trapped in this icy dome,
Always longing to get out,
Floating around in no direction,
All hope of freedom is gone,
For we are tamed to perfection,
Going with the wind from dusk till dawn,
We float past many continents and countries all alike,
America, Malaysia, Africa, Asia,
But the horizon is always just out of sight,
Each day like some strange fantasia,
But soon the temperature starts to get hot,
And the water starts to evaporate into gas,
Then the glacier starts to melt a lot,
And I am in the air free at last,
So now I'm I'm in a gaseous state,
Floating freely through the air,
This turn of events must be fate,
For soon I arrive at my new lair,
With many gas particles just like me,
A beautiful formation called a cloud,
Billions like myself I can clearly see,
And there we lay in this beautiful shroud,
But suddenly the air turns cold,
And the cloud becomes large and round,
As it becomes a heavy load,
I start to tumble down,
Gliding down through the atmosphere,
Flying on soft white wings,
I feel refreshed with no fear,
As I hit the ground with a soft ping,
So here I am on the ground,
In the freezing cold,
Part of a large white mound,
Waiting for my life as a snowflake to unfold,
For as a water particle I don't choose where to go,
I have no control over my state of being,
Making it so that my life is a formidable foe,
A sad sight I am forever seeing,
But soon the cold in the air turns to warm,
And I and all around me start to melt,
Then my liquid state starts to form,
I can't imagine when I've felt,
So free and unconformed,
We all float in a lovely lull,
Suddenly I and the water around me begins to swarm,
As we freefall down a waterfall,
Snapping like a billion bolts,
Disturbing our peaceful Zen,
As we land down with a jolt,
Peace is slowly formed again,
I flow on down the river happy to be me,
In fact I am so filled with joy,
I don't notice I'm flowing right into the sea,
Trying to flow the other way didn't work for I,
For the wave never seemed to tire of bringing me up and down,
So I have no choice but to just sit there and ly,
until this wretched wave washes me off in some foreign town,
It seems like forever since I was in an iceberg,
But it was probably just a year,
This cycle will go on forever,
So being a water particle is nothing I hold dear,
For not even time can sever,
My awful luck I say,
For me a day is a billion years,
And a billion years a day,
Then my spirit starts to fade,
As I realize I am here to stay.
