my name is sean and i'm 27 years old. i'm presently employed at wybe tv35 as an adminstrative assistant. i went to rowan college of new jersey for communications (specialization in radio/tv/film) with the intentions of getting into technical production work (camera work and editing) but i ended up doing my internship at wybe tv35 as an intern doing administrative work and pretty much got hired full time a few months after interning there. the reason why i chose to do my internship at wybe was because i thought their programming was incredibly innovative and different from anything else that was on the air waves in the region. their mission statement in a nutshell is "to provide a voice for those in the community who are either unserved and underserved by mainstream media." sigh. this is an almost ideal job - not only does it involve something that i actually believe in, but it's something i went to school for (at least in theory!). although i'm not utilizing some of my techinical skills i learned in college, i'm at least getting exposure to different aspects of the innards of public television i may not have gotten elsewhere. so what do i do there? my offical title is adminstrative assistant which includes doing reception, answering phones, typing and laying out various documents for the staff, etc. i also serve as a "webmaster," "computer consultant," and general know-it-all, let-me-help-you kinda guy. i really like my job - most of the people i work with are young, vibrant, creative and talented... who could ask for anything more?

prior to my work at wybe, i worked at a drug store for almost 6 years while going to college. i spent three years as a stock person/cashier, and the later three as a pharmacy technician which was probably one of the most perplexing and stressful of positioins i've ever held. don't get me wrong - it was fun and interesting. i learned a lot about medications, ailments and the impatient/psychotic side of human nature. i've had customers come up to me thinking that i was the pharamacist and ask me questions like "my baby has a yeast infection, what do you recommend?" or "what can you recommend for premature ejaculation?" i nearly had a run-in with one customer who freaked out because the price of his medication was incorrect (which happened to be prozac!). he banged on the counter demanding that something be done, called me a "punk" and threatened physical harm... ugh. what a nightmare.
