Real Genius, with Val Kilmer.
The coolest movie. Young, brilliant college students invent a laser beam that can destroy human targets from space. With the help of a fried former student who lives in the dorm basement, they discover the use of their technology. Then they comically try to get back the laser so no harm can be done. A great show, a lot better than I can make it sound. Rent it!
Supergirl
That's right, it's Superman's cousin, come to help save the world. I love this movie--she was my hero as I grew up. Has some comedy and even romance. A refreshing variation on the superman sequels.
Star Trek Movies [Some of them are 80s]
Well, I'd say see them all Star Trek I-VI, Generations, and First Contact, I believe. They may be sci-fi, but they have nice stories too--it's not like it's all blood and aliens, but there's some of that, too. Anyway, you can't go through life without being exposed to Star Trek, or at least you shouldn't. Yes, Michelle, I'm talking to you! Just kidding...
The Last Unicorn
A really cool animated movie I loved as a kid. Unicorns, of course!
Young Einstein
I just saw this movie today...it's sorta corny but pretty funny. Einstein, played by Yahoo Serious, is a crazy young Australian guy who lives with his parents on an apple orchard. He goes to the mainland to patent his formula and his idea for splitting the atom. After saving the world from the first atomic bomb (designed to put bubbles into beer), he is welcomed home as a hero, with his girlfriend Marie Curie by his side. Not based much on fact, but it's fun.
