(Buchanon Cabin, Abingdon VA
1996)
Roo ended up "bucked" to a rail fence for
his pilfering from the soldiers' haversacks. He was caught with watches,
several combs, a silver shot glass and money! One of the more popular
punishments during the Civil War was so-called "tying-up", and was used
on occasion for civilian discipline. Roo expresses his displeasure
at being publicly humiliated for his crimes.

Of course one of the pitfalls of "tying-up" is
that any old feller can come along and "adjust your attitude" as Shawn
demonstrates by tickle torturing poor Roo's foot!
