Acknowledgements, thanks,
credits and such...
by the members of the Co.K, 37th VA

We would be remiss as serious living historians if we didn't give a little credit to the many people who have contributed to the development, inspiration and refining of the 37th's image, abilities and portrayals over the years.
First and foremost, we would like to thank all those "hard cores" who laid the path in the early days for folks like us.  These include the 1st MD CSA or "Black Hats", a group who "laid the  framework" for units like the ours.  Founded in the late 1950's as a NSSA skirmish club, their leader, the late Professor Gerry Rolph, gathered together talented and dedicated youngsters whose interest in authenticity went far beyond anything seen at the time or for many years since. The picture at left is of Roger Demik, one of the members of this group.  Taken in 1960, his impression is a remarkable testament to the accuracy and dedication of this pioneering unit. (info. provided by Ross Kimmel, former member of "The Black Hats").

We also would like to thank the many other pioneer "hard cores" not the least of which are Spence Waldron, Ray Hock,  the Mudsills, and most especially Bob Wilburn, whose constant advice and encouragement has inspired us from the earliest days.
We also want to thank our many friends and boosters in the reenactment community, not the least of which are The Southern Guard, The Stonewall Brigade, the States Rights Guard, the 10th Texas, and the (former) 1st Battalion ANV.
And finally, those individuals who have never flagged in their friendship, kind words and support to us through the years including (the late) Don Patterson, David Pridgeon, Tom Cummings, Rob Hodge, Mike Wilkins, Freddy Rickard, and a host of others.
Special credit should go to our pards from the good ol' 8th VA (Chris Graham's and Bob Denton's former unit). To Buddy Bare, who taught us how a reenacting obsession can be made into a "lifestyle", to Ed Embry, who showed us that one doesn't have to own an expensive hand-made uniform to be a great campaigner, and to Dave Purschwitz, who's love of history translated into a deep love of his unit.
