Antietam...Antietam.
Yes, it was the largest civil war reenactment ever held; and of
course we were there (who wasn't?).
The company waiting (for a change?)
before one of the several battle scenarios. Woody (barefoot, at center)
is looking particularly amused by the whole affair!
Here's sergeant Haymaker looking
rather "bunged" (i.e. dirty) and ready for the weekend!
"...they were the dirtiest men I ever saw, a most ragged
lean and hungry set of wolves. Yet there was a dash about them that
the northern men lacked."
(citizen of Frederick, MD Sept., 1862)
The Antietam campaign saw many
Confederate soldiers wearing cast-off or captured federal clothing and/or
civilian garb.
Of course, some of the 37th boys can't ever resist
the temptation to "cut-up"!

First sergeant Ricky Lewis (left) and Corporal Tim
Carr waiting for the "ball" to begin; and looking very serious about the
business at hand!
Uh-oh! Well I reckon at Antietam we did "hide
in the woods"! This looks kind of like a scene from "Lord of the
Flies" if you ask me!
