Changes

Summer Sunrise
Like the eye of the fire storm
the sun rises
above the bay of white sand and placid waters
the light of a billion candles streaks across the horizon
the shadow-folk flee before a tide of light

Summer Moonrise
And as the heat fades with the night a pale moon slips above the hills
aglow with the sun's light the distant satellite sucks away all of its heat
but still the air is breathless and still - caged in silence

Winter Sunrise
The light is watery and smooth this time
slowly it pierces brooding clouds
that are grey and dull
and flying through the frozen air
it gives much glare but little heat
from so far does it burn

Winter Moonrise
Coal dark tonight - chilled and cold
the world is wrapped in arms of steel
you can shiver in your coat
as the icy fingers play along your spine

Spring Sunrise
Come morning there is a chill on the air
that is warmed by the touch of our star
a naked flame burning steady and clear
with bright colour that is a caress upon the skin

Spring Moonrise
With guile and cunning
a bluish grin touches the sky
Paladins ride beneath wings of reflected light
once brazen and shining their armour gleams cold

Autumn Sunrise
But the Darkness has gone - fled before the light
our sun - rising - slowly
looks sad - shrunken like a piece of stale cheese
like a tired fire that is burning still in hope

Autumn Moonrise
And as the day slips away it appears to us
Pale - daunted - and hung like a gallows in the sky
only noticed by the few who stare through glass eyes
The man in the moon is truly alone tonight
