Jera: (J or Y: A year, a good harvest.) The results of earlier efforts are realized. A time of peace and happiness, fruitful season. It can break through stagnancy. Hopes and expectations of peace and prosperity. The promise of success earned. Life cycle, cyclical pattern of the universe. Everything changes, in its own time. Jera Merkstave (Jera cannot be reversed, but may lie in opposition): Sudden setback, reversals. A major change, repetition, bad timing, poverty, conflict. |
JARA - Hazel ![]() Shamans used the more pliable branches of the Hazel tree to make dowsing tools, and its thicker branches to fashion wands, which were symbols of authority in olden days. Hazel (Corylus avellana), like JARA its associated Rune, stresses an ability to come into attunement with Nature's cyclic changes and to discern its subtle influences. Hazel nuts are symbols of inspiration and wisdom gained through an understanding of the cycles and rhythms of life. Like JARA, Hazel draws one's attention to the need for taking care of those things over which one has stewardship. The power that is in Hazel is that of balance and the importance of meeting the needs of others as well as fulfilling one's own needs. Hazel and the JARA teach the value of meditation in the development and direction of creative energies. |
