This is what the LORD says:
"Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom
or the strong man boast of his strength
or the rich man boast of his riches,
but let him who boasts boast about this:
that he understands and knows me,
that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness,
justice and righteousness on earth,
for in these I delight," declares the LORD.
Jeremiah 9:23-24
God addresses the three things most likely to cause us to rely on ourselves... wisdom, strength and riches and it so much a part of human nature to work for these things. But... these are nothing compared to understanding and knowing God. Not having a knowledge of, but knowing God on a heart level. To know the God who exemplifies and delights in displaying kindness, justice and righteousness is a joy beyond compare. Everything else comes and goes in its season.. we have times when we feel blessed in these different areas... but nothing compares to how we feel when we are tight, strong, deep in our relationship with God. This is what God wants for us... This is what he wants us to seek after...
