Photo radar in B.C. has gone the way of the dodo bird. The moment Gordon Campbell's government outlawed photo radar, they started calling in the vans. I just feel sorry for the suckers who got caught at the very end. That hurts bad. Enough about them! What about me?

The elimination of photo radar will make me a much safer driver. Strange is it? No, not if you think about it logically. When you drive through a place, especially one where photo radar is known to show up on occasion, do you drive slower? Well, some do some don't. Do you look for the van? Of course you do! Everybody does it! I certainly do. I drive through at my normal speed, however, paying very little attention to the road. I'm paying way more attention to the vans parked at the side of the road. With my attention focused over there, chances are, if something unexpected happens on the road, I'm going to be screwed. With those vans gone, I can focus much more on the task at hand.

For me, photo radar was a bust. I mean, what happens when you actually see one? Slam on the brakes as hard as you can right? Well, that's all fine and dandy, but what about the guy behind you? Ka-boom! And they say photo radar prevents accidents. What bunk.

I don't know how many out there are like me. But I feel much safer knowing that the photo radar program has been scrapped.
