The rather lame plot is as follows. The Light of the planet Xartha or something was hidden on Earth 25 years ago by Agent Kay (Tommy Lee Jones). Agent Jay (Will Smith) has to bring back Agent Kay from his self-imposed exile in a postal office and shoot up the bad alien chicky masquerading as an underwear model (Lara Flynn Boyle).
All of the elements of the first movie are back, including the damn dog, who is perhaps the funniest member of the cast. Will Smith is fairly funny and Tommy Lee Jones again does the ol' deadpan stare. Lara Flynn Boyle really sinks her teeth into the alien seductress role. The worm guys are back too. There's a scene of them playing Twister that's hilarious. And there's these other guys, sort of like mini-Ewoks or something? Pretty damn funn, though if they were in the movie for any longer than five minutes, they'd get pretty damn annoying.
Not much of a plot, not much of a character development, but plenty of fun and plenty of action. Big guns and CGI are excellent as always. Oh, there's this one particularly nasty scene of a fellow with a scrotum on his chin...apparently he's a Ballchin. Could have done without that particular joke. They really do look like balls.
That's the long version. The short version? You looking for some summer fun? See the movie. Otherwise? Don't.
