I decided to read Lord of the Rings trilogy. I've never read it before. Never liked Tolkien. Some sort of bad experience with him when I was a kid. With his books I mean. Anyways, I figured I'd give it another shot. It's actually not too bad, Tolkien, he's a good storyteller. So I'm enjoying the book. That's good. The problem is that I feel so commercialized. Everybody else in the known world is either reading the book intending to watch the movie, reading the book having watched the movie, or has watched or intending to watch the movie. For whatever reason. It's a good book, but I feel like a damn consumer whore. Part of the masses. Bandwagon jumper. Totally un-independent. It's rather a weird feeling. It's like the popularity of the book has made it less worthy as a book. Must be my elitism showing.
