Hi y'all. Back from a short and exam-filled hiatus. Very enjoyable.

Anybody who either did not vote in the last election, or voted for the Liberal party really should not be complaining about what the Liberals have done the last few months. If they do, they're either hypocrites, or stupid. Harsh, I know. But that's how it goes. I find it absolutely ridiculous that anybody who voted Liberal in the election should have any complaints about the Liberals to this point. They've done exactly what they said they would. They've lowered taxes for the wealthy. Which they said they would. They've slashed services all over the place, including in the key areas of education and health care. Well, they haven't actually slashed education yet, but certainly moving in that direction, if you take into account inflation and rising costs.

So they've slashed everything. Which they said they would. They made no bones about this in the election campaign. Anybody who voted responsibly and voted Liberal, knew this. They have no right to turn around and say that it sucks. IT WAS THEIR GODDAMN FAULT. I find people in public sector jobs who voted Liberal particularly funny. It's like saying "please fire me, I no longer want to work for the government". And indeed, the Liberals are obligingly doing just that -- to the point where they are breaking contracts signed by the government. Anybody who voted irresponsibly....well, they don't get to complain either. What good is it to vote irresponsibly?

And people who didn't vote. Also no right to complain. Think about it this way. What was voter turnout this time around? I really have no idea. Where can I get stats like this? Let's say 80%. That's probably being on the high side. But just picking a number out of the air. The margin of victory for the Liberal party in many many many districts was less than 20%. If those people who didn't vote, did vote, and voted NDP, we'd have a very different looking government right now. And I recognize that of those 20%, not all of them would vote NDP. But given what they know now of how life under the Liberals is....I'd be willing to bet that at least half of them would vote NDP. Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know. But all the same, we'd have a very different government. Currently, in legislature, there are 77 Liberal MLA's and 2 NDP MLA's. If we saw the NDP get a few more seats -- say 15 more, making it 62 seats for the Liberals and 17 for the NDP, things would, I think, be quite different in the legislature. Reason being, that with an opposition of 2 -- and no Official Opposition (the Liberal Speaker of the House illegally declaring that the opposition had to have some arbitrary number, 4 or something to be legally an official opposition), not much can be done in the way of holding the government responsible. Our system is an adversarial system. That's the basis of government. If there is no adversary, the government doesn't really work. It becomes a dictatorship. Which is exactly what has happened. The two NDP MLA's can't handle everything, there's just too much stuff. Without an effective opposition, you cannot have an effective government. It's as simple as that.

That was a long digression. But you get my point. Those who didn't vote, really did vote. Their non-vote was a vote for the Liberals. So to those who did not vote, the same argument applies as to those who did vote. They have no right to argue about the Liberals. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that people can't complain about the government. That's unavoidable. But so far, Liberal policy has held really no surprises. So why are some people surprised? BC voted for this. BC deserves whatever they get.
