Apartheid in South Africa

 

Unit Description and Rationale

This unit is designed for students to take a deeper look at the problems facing South Africa and how they were resolved. South Africa has spent the last three centuries fighting Apartheid. Apartheid was a legal system of segregation and classification concerning all aspects of the lives of the people. This unit will look at these problems and give the students a chance to explore the situation in South Africa and give their insight on the problems and possible solutions.

Grade Level and Course

This unit is designed for high school (9-12) world history classes. It could possibly be used in a geography class if slightly modified.
