This is my favourite fossil in Cheltenham. I even cleaned it up myself!

Solenopora or Beetroot stone in situ.

Entrance and start of Fosse Crosse Quarry

Below is a photo of Solenopora Jurassica, or " Beetroot Stone", which can be found at Fosse Cross. [ The site is SSSI so you can only collect in the rubble]

This side has been polished, you can see the layers of red algae very clearly.

Below is the other side to help you know what to look for.
