Our Ghost

Through the years I have heard stories of a ghost in our house. I have never "seen" it, but I have heard doors slam, only to find all the doors open. I have head footsteps behind me, turning I find No one.

The one incident that stands out happened one winter night When my daughter was four months old. We had moved her to her own room a few days earlier.

Beside our bed is a "touch" lamp. It has three different intensity levels. If there is a power surge it pops on the lowest level.

The night of the incident everything was quiet, the kids asleep, the Weather calm. So when the light started popping on from the lowest to highest level over and over again, I thought my husband was playing around and I told him to quit! He turned over and showed me his hands as the light kept going on and off. Finally he said it must be the house ghost trying to tell us something. So he crawled out of bed and checked the main floor and the basement, the upstairs was blocked off. While he was gone the light stayed on, not turning off and on. When he came back he had found nothing amiss. As soon as he crawled back in bed and turned the light off, it started flashing again. This time I got up and did a "MOM" check. First I checked my son who likes to read late into the night, sound asleep. Then the baby.

I believe this is what the ghost had been trying to get our attention for.

I found she had scooted right up against the headboard and had the blanket wrapped around her head. As I uncovered her, she took a small gasp and another.

I truly believe that if I had not found her then that she would have suffocated that night.

Since that night the light only comes on by itself if there is a power surge. And only on the lowest level.
